8.27.25 – Member Organizing Institute

Our union will be participating in AFT-Oregon’s Member Organizer Institute (MOI), a paid training opportunity for those ready to take their union organizing skills to the next level and build our local for the future.

MOI is a 3-month intensive paid training program that teaches organizing skills through real-world experience in concert with staff and local leaders. MOI trains union members to build power, grow membership, engage current members, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our local. By preparing members to continue their organizing work and to support other members, we can maintain the strength of our union long into the future.

We are looking for members who are interested in using this development opportunity as a way to jump-start or deepen their long-term involvement with our union. Does that sound like you?

“Working with our union on the MOI gave me a huge insight into what it’s like to do service for a worthy cause. I witnessed how tirelessly our union members fight for better working conditions for our faculty at OSU, and I got to help! I learned and practiced a new skillset in communication while engaging with my fellow faculty members in order to activate membership. As a result, I got to connect with my faculty community in a meaningful way and I now feel more rooted to my profession and my workplace. Fun, challenging, and very worthwhile.” – Jessica Dukes, Spring ‘21 MOI Participant

Admittance is competitive and will be based on an application and interview.

The application deadline is Monday September 8th, 2025. More details about the program and the application can be found hereHave questions about the MOI program? Reach out to info@uaosu.org.
