A Brief History of Our Union

June 27th, 2018: Our faculty union at Oregon State University is certified through majority support of teaching and research faculty across the University.

June 2020: Our members ratified both our first Collective Bargaining Agreement and Constitution & Bylaws.

Summer 2020: Our bargaining team negotiated robust COVID protections for our bargaining unit.

Fall 2020: Our members elected the first cohort of officers and representatives to lead our union.

Fall 2021: Our members ratified pay raises for AY 2021-2024 and equity adjustments to be distributed in 2023.

January 2024: We kicked off negotiations for our second CBA and our bargaining team started meeting with the Administration.

Our Mission

We believe that an empowered faculty enhances the learning environment for our students, creates stronger partnerships with our communities, and helps build a better OSU for current and future generations.

 

We will continue to use our collective voice to:

  • Champion academic freedom, rigorous discourse, and scientific inquiry
  • Ensure shared governance of the university
  • Secure working conditions that promote excellence and innovation
  • Support myriad voices and invite new perspectives
  • Protect the quality of education, research, and outreach
  • Defend and uphold the principles of public education
